Inspiration from Bessie Pease Gutmann

Over the years I find that my images often take on the look of artists that have inspired me.  This past week I was in Michigan, where I grew up.  My brother and sisters and I were helping my dad clean out the basement.  It got me thinking about old books.  Bessie Pease Gutmann, born 1876, was an illustrator of children and the gentle world they inhabit.  I have always loved her illustrations.  Do you see the resemblance?

Karen,

Yes, it's amazing how things stick in the back of our minds. NO ONE touches your talent, and you've certainly captured that beautiful, soft, innocent look that Bessie Pease Gutmann illustrated. Love it!! :))
